Lottery tickets inline sale considered by lottery officials
Recently it seems that state lottery officials of California will consider allowing the sales of lottery tickets over the internet, as this does not interfear with the federal law.
As per head of State Lottery, Robert O’Neill, the internet has not presented major potential for lottery tickets, but at the moment it is a potential channel.
The legal opinion of Justice Department will be revised by the officials of State Lottery.
This way, the sales of lottery tickets over the internet will be possible, as well as offering poker and other online games.
It was clear that the Wire Act was applicable only for sports betting and not to other forms of online gambling.
Also the head of State Lottery stated that online poker should not be taken into consideration by the state of California. The interpretation of the DoJ over the federal law is a boost for the states who aim for the expansion of lottery tickets sales, but online poker is a totally different matter.
